There’s nothing I like more than getting a nice new set of outdoor patio furniture covers. There’s something about getting a new set of cushions and knowing that they are protected by my covers, whatever the weather. I always find that people are happier when in their garden – especially at meal times, and I always find that people like sitting on patio furniture that has been properly cared for. These kinds of covers can be easily cleaned (if desired) as they are usually made from materials that are easily dry-wiped. If you live in an area where there’s lots of snow, these kinds of items are particularly useful, as you simply lift them off and take the snow off with them. The material most commonly used is a type of vinyl that is waterproof. These sheets can often be quite thick (while remaining light) so that they’ll stand the test of time. This added weight also keeps them from blowing away in high winds, and means you won’t have to fix them down with tent pegs or anything else.

Because of the amazing (and potentially devastating) effect that the sun has on everything (due mainly to its ultra-violet rays), every set of outdoor patio furniture covers has to be treated with a special coating. This coating is basically a UV protector, and stops your tarp from being bent out of shape, melting or discoloured. As I live in England; a climate that is only usually warm in the Spring/Summer time, I have a basic ritual that I go through with my garden. Whenever Spring time rolls around I uncover all of my patio furniture – my garden swing, my tables and chairs, and my barbeque are all uncovered. Then, just before Autumn comes (and before leaves start falling off trees) I cover everything up so it’s kept in pristine condition for next year.
